Our Mission...

At Forest Hill Child Care Center, we believe that every child deserves not only excellent early education but also a stable, supportive family environment. We know that raising children comes with challenges, and sometimes families need more than childcare alone. That’s why our mission is to walk alongside parents and caregivers, offering guidance, resources, and encouragement so that both children and families can thrive.

We don’t just care for children—we care for families.

What We Do...

  • Housing Support
Our staff and interns connect families with safe and reliable housing resources. Whether navigating shelters, rental assistance programs, or long-term housing vouchers, we help parents find stability so their children can flourish.

  • Food Security Resources
We understand that no child can learn or grow on an empty stomach. We link families with food pantries, community partners, and nutrition programs to make sure children have consistent access to healthy meals.

  • Navigating Benefits & Services
The social services system can feel overwhelming. We guide families through applications and renewals for childcare subsidies, DSS benefits, and other supportive programs, making sure they don’t face the process alone.

  • Whole-Family Advocacy
Every family’s story is unique. We work one-on-one to understand each family’s goals and challenges, advocating for resources that promote lasting stability and success.

  • Intern Support from VCU School of Social Work
Thanks to our partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University, trained social work interns support our case management team. They provide direct assistance, offering fresh energy and expertise while expanding our capacity to serve families.

Success Story: From Crisis to Stability

One of the families who came to Forest Hill Child Care Center was a mother and her young daughter. The mother was working hard to build independence while navigating the challenges of a disability and relying on a childcare subsidy to keep her daughter enrolled. When she suddenly lost her housing, stability seemed out of reach.

Our case management team stepped in. Together with community partners, we helped her secure a housing voucher, connected her with supportive resources, and encouraged her every step of the way. Today, she and her daughter live in a safe apartment of their own, and she has maintained steady employment.

Her story is a powerful reminder that when child care and family support go hand-in-hand, families can move from crisis to stability and from uncertainty to hope.

Why It Matters...

Our case management services are about more than meeting immediate needs—they’re about creating long-term stability. With the right support, families can move from crisis to confidence, building a stronger future for their children.

At FHCCC, child care is just the beginning. We are here to ensure that families leave stronger, more connected, and more hopeful than when they first walked through our doors.
